Signs of the Times, or Why Yahshua Must Judge His Church

A sister in Christ (thank you Jane) forwarded an e-mail she received from The Elijah List today. Her one word comment was "Unbelievable!" I have screen captured the e-mail and divided it up into sections to post as images. The Elijah List is probably the most popular, highly trafficked, Christian prophecy website on the Internet. Pay attention to the explanatory statement that follows the advertisement.

"This is a paid advertisement that we hope will be of value to our subscribers. Elijah List Publications, Steve Schultz, or the Elijah List staff does not necessarily endorse the event, ministry, business, or product this advertisement promotes. Of course, we strive to make sure all companies, ministries, speakers and events that are announced through the Elijah List are Scripturally rooted and kingdom focused."

Hmmm... What "Kingdom" are they focused on?

Matthew 6:19-21
"Don't lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don't break through and steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Matthew 6:24
"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will hold to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."

Steve Schultz assures his Christian subscribers that the paid advertisements they distribute are vetted to insure they are "Scripturally rooted." I can think of a few Scriptures relevant to this ad.

Luke 17:28-29
It was the same as happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building; but on the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.

America has just taken a major step toward becoming the modern incarnation of Sodom, and the "prophets" of prosperity are hawking financial investments for Christians. "Invest in the First State Bank of Sodom!!!" Woe unto those who think this is a safe and profitable investment. They have far more serious things to worry about than losing their money (which they surely will).

James 5:1-3
Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries which are coming upon you. Your riches have rotted and your garments have become moth-eaten. Your gold and your silver have rusted; and their rust will be a witness against you and will consume your flesh like fire. It is in the last days that you have stored up your treasure!

Micah 3:5-7
This is what Yahweh says: "You false prophets are leading my people astray! You promise peace for those who give you food, but you declare war on those who refuse to feed you. Now the night will close around you, cutting off all your visions. Darkness will cover you, putting an end to your predictions. The sun will set for you prophets, and your day will come to an end. Then you seers will be put to shame, and you fortune-tellers will be disgraced. And you will cover your faces because there is no answer from God."
